Winefest is back in town!
'Swirl, sip and savour for three hours at an all-inclusive wine sampling event! Winefest invites Edmontonians to spend an afternoon or evening indulging in a vast selection of local and international wines, ports, sparkling and dessert wines from the world's most celebrated wine regions. Now in its fourth year, this celebration of wine will take place February 17 - 18 at the Shaw Conference Centre, Hall D.
“Winefest offers the unique opportunity to ‘try before you buy,” said Cathy Miller, Festival Director. “Attendees have the opportunity to explore new wineries and savour some of their tried and true favourites. Guests can pair their wines with this year’s selection of gourmet nibbles – from mouthwatering cheese, chocolates and olives to an assortment of hors d’oeuvres.”
Winefest is a playground for the palate, where attendees can enjoy wine and hors d’oeuvres in a casually refined atmosphere. During the tasting session, guests can get to know their grapes, as knowledgeable experts point out subtle tasting notes and pairing tips. One ticket includes unlimited tastings, as well as a complimentary Riedel wine glass and a Tasting Notebook. Furthermore, an onsite Liquor Depot store will be available where guests can purchase their favourite finds of the night.
Featuring 227 wines from 55 wineries across the globe, this year’s festival will showcase wineries from fifteen different countries including; Canada, the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Georgia, Chile, Moldova, Argentina, Spain, Portugal, Italy, France, Holland, Israel and Japan. New and old world wines, unique labels, port and dessert wines will also be available for sampling' (Winefest Press Release, more details can be found on their website HERE)

Oh how exciting! I would love to win tickets and drag my wine buddy with me to sample new and interesting wines!
ReplyDeleteOoooo! Tickets to Winefest sound awesome! I would love to go, my reasons are because I love wine and it would give me three hours with my husband and no children!
ReplyDelete"In vino veritas" - "In wine, there is truth". Such is my motto and personal philosophy! Wine is my elixir of life, the default beverage, and my perk-me-up (including in the morning on a very bad day ^_~).
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to go to this festival, but my availability never coincided with the dates... This will be the first time that the stars (more specifically, our calendars) will align and I will be able to attend!
Most important to me, however, is that by attending this festival, I will get to expand my vino boundaries. Canada, the US, Australia, and New Zealand are tried and true destinations, but countries such as Georgia, Moldova, Holland, Israel, and Japan are certainly surprises to me! It would be an oenophile's delight to be able to visit these places via wine (because my wallet certainly knows that I can't physically go to these places!).
Whether I get selected or not, however, I hope that whoever wins these tickets will be as excited as I am to go!
Thank you for this wonderful opportunity, and I look forward to hearing of the results!
Yours truly,
~JPW
I would be so happy to have these tickets - I have been battling a cold/flu for the past week and haven't been able to leave the house at all - it's been a bummer. My grandma is a big wino and has been lucky enough to travel around the world and experience different wines from different regions and is now passing on her expertise/knowledge to me...It would be so great to get to take her out for the afternoon to this event and spend time with her doing something that she absolutely enjoys/is one of her biggest hobbies! I'd be so happy if I was lucky enough to win! Thanks for having this contest - it's a great way to get involved in events in Edmonton!

Um, it's called Winefest; I think it's pretty clear why I want to go!
ReplyDeleteYay for wine.
My wife was ill yesterday for Valentines Day, so did not manage to take her out - these tickets would make up for it.
ReplyDeleteMy name is Iain Munro - I could only post if I went anonymous.
DeleteThis blog saved my life. I was dying from the food desert that is south Edmonton until Michelle helped me find an oasis of gourmet delights. For that I am now on the path to recovery. Thank you great Chef!! John P.
ReplyDeleteI would love to win tickets to this event and give it to my bro!! Lately he has been doing me a lot of favours n the only way I could show my appreciation is by giving him something I won.... BTY I just came across ur blog n absolutely love it!!! Can't wait to try some of the stuff!
ReplyDeleteIn echoing everyone's sentiments, I too would love the opportunity to attend this wine fest with my hubby and sample all the variety of wines available.
